In 2018, we released the inaugural Managing Network Vendor Diversity Report, where we discovered that MSPs face a serious challenge: There’s high vendor diversity in the network hardware they operate.
In the short year since then, the managed services industry has experienced a lot of change: tech trends are evolving, new products are being released, and client expectations are growing. So what was true in 2018 might not be any longer.
That’s why we set out to determine how today’s MSP-managed networks stack up to last year’s stats, specifically:
- Are MSP-managed networks made up of the same percentage of network devices?
- Have the top 10 network device type vendors changed within the past year?
- Is Cisco still the betting favourite for most commonly deployed network device vendor across all networks?
- Are MSPs managing more or fewer network device vendors per client than last year?
Looking at the same four categories of managed network devices—access points, switches, routers, and firewalls—deployed across MSP-managed networks, our data reveals a more crowded and fragmented market than before.
We’ve summarized some of the report’s top takeaways—like the most popular network vendors across networks of all sizes—in the infographic below.
